Five familiar faces (and one new one) returned to Prior’s Court yesterday to take part in a day of volunteering, battling dirt, grass, lost shoes, ants, and changeable weather conditions! Despite all of that though, Tanium maintained their enthusiastic energy and left at the end of the day much grubbier but with a sense of accomplishment.

The task for the day was two-fold – the morning was spent strimming and tidying a fenced off area of our track, which contained large shallow holes which were left after old broken pieces of play equipment were removed. The grass had grown long and upon strimming it back, a treasure trove of lost items were discovered, including shoes, communication books, a t-shirt, and many fidget toys!

The afternoon was then spent continuing with an ongoing project at the Countryside Learning Centre, digging out the nature trail and filling it with bark. The turf dug out was then recycled and used to fill in the holes on the track. It was heavy and dirty work but the incredible group from Tanium did it all with a smile on their faces.

These two projects will allow the young people to explore the CLC safely and on a more accessible path, and the work done at the track will provide more space to run around, and eventually space for more play equipment to be installed.

Thank you Tanium for your hard work, and we hope to see you back very soon!
