What is TEACCH and what is covered in the 5-Day course?

TEACCH® is an evidence-based approach to learning, world-renowned for its effectiveness in supporting autistic people.  It is at the very heart of our approach and we have strong links with the University of North Carolina where TEACCH® originated. The TEACCH® programme aims to enable autistic people to function as meaningfully and as independently as possible in the community.

The 5-day hands-on TEACCH® classroom training is a broad-based, intensive course for parents and professionals working with autistic individuals. Some of the autistic young people with learning disabilities and complex needs we support will be assisting with the course as Co-Trainers. Note: all Co-Trainers will be of secondary school age and above.

It provides both the theoretical and practical applications of Structured Teaching.

TEACCH® is at the heart of our approach because as well as offering training, Prior's Court is a provider of education and residential care for autistic young people with complex needs aged 5 to 25. More than 70 of our own staff members have completed the 5-Day course.

We are fortunate that more than 40% of the UK’s TEACCH® Certified Advanced Consultants will be leading and shaping the content of this course.

Why choose Prior's Court for a TEACCH course?

Recent delegates who have completed the 5-Day course held at Prior's Court in February 2026 said:

I liked the fact that we were surrounded by experts, the level of expertise was obvious. I liked the structure of the training. It was supportive but it did challenge. If it wasn't hands on, I would not have learnt so much.
The staff of Prior’s Court were wonderful to work with and the course itself was the best I think I've ever been on. Learnt more in those 5 days than my teacher training. I'm very grateful.

100% of respondents to our survey issued after the February course said they were "very satisfied" with the training overall, and would recommend the course to a friend or colleague.
